Purpose: The goal of the Tourism and Hotel Management Program is to meet the sector's need for qualified intermediate staff by training mid-level managers who are qualified tourism professionals.
The prepared program aims to provide the sector with professional staff who have both theoretical and practical experience.
Vision: To be a leader in the region by training tourism professionals who are able to perceive and interpret the changes and developments in their environment, who have universal and ethical values, who are integrated with theory, practice and technology, who are entrepreneurial, researcher and socially responsible, for the tourism sector that is growing day by day in the world.
Mission: To produce quality graduates who are ready to contribute to the tourism sector nationally and internationally, equipped with basic knowledge, skills and research techniques.
Program Description: Sivrice Vocational School - Tourism and Hotel Management program was opened in the 1995-1996 Academic Year. The Tourism and Hotel Management associate degree program has a total quota of 50 people.
The Tourism and Hotel Management Associate Degree Program aims to train qualified intermediate manpower to meet the needs of accommodation establishments, food and beverage establishments, travel agencies and public institutions and organizations that provide hospitality services at various scales by providing students with basic information in the fields of front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, foreign language, accounting, management, marketing, human resources, communication and automation systems.
In line with these purposes, it prepares students for the profession and ensures that they acquire the necessary knowledge.
In order to support and reinforce the information taught in the textbooks in the program, an internship of 30 working days is mandatory. Students who graduate from the department have the opportunity to vertically transfer to programs that provide education through formal or distance education system in accordance with the provisions of the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education of Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs".
Our academic staff consists of 3 lecturers who are experts in their fields and have sectoral experience.
Admission and Registration Conditions: Students who graduated from departments of vocational high schools designated for non-exam transfer can enter the program without an exam.
Those who graduated from other departments or high schools will be placed in the program if they take the Student Selection Exam (ÖSS) conducted by the ÖSYM Presidency and receive a sufficient YGS 6 score for "Tourism and Hotel Management".
Recognition of Prior Learning: Students who enter the program without taking an exam, through the Higher Education Entrance Exam (YGS), or through horizontal transfer, may be exempted from courses they have previously taken and passed, by decision of the Board of Directors.
Graduation Requirements: In order for a student to graduate from the program, he/she must have taken and passed all courses, successfully completed the practices, 30-day compulsory summer internship and similar studies, have a graduation weighted GPA of at least 2.00 and complete a total of 120 ECTS credits.
Measurement and Evaluation Principles: The evaluation criteria in the program are organized as theoretical courses and practical studies. At least one midterm and final exam are given for each course. Depending on the status of the course, the instructor may conduct teaching activities such as quizzes, projects, field studies, etc. during the term.
Instructors are free to evaluate success according to activities such as midterm exams, final exams, quizzes, projects, etc.
Each instructor announces the criteria they will apply in evaluating success at the beginning of the semester.
A student's success in a course is determined by the letter grade given by the instructor responsible for the course after the final/supplementary exam of that course, taking into account 40% of the midterm/supplementary exam grade point average and 60% of the final/supplementary exam grade.
Employment Opportunities: Students who graduate from this department are primarily employed in national and international accommodation companies, travel agencies, food and beverage companies, congress and fair companies, yacht and marina companies, recreation companies, airlines and tour companies, maritime and cruise companies, rent-a-car companies, information centers and public institutions and organizations that provide hospitality services.
Transfer to Advanced Programs: Students who successfully complete the Tourism and Hotel Management associate degree programs can vertically transfer to the "Accommodation Management, Accommodation and Tourism Management, Tourism Management, Tourism Management and Hotel Management, Tourism and Hotel Management, Tourism and Hotel Management, Business Administration, Business Informatics, Business-Economics and Hotel Management" undergraduate programs of the faculties/colleges if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam opened by ÖSYM in accordance with the provisions of the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education of Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs".
